Hitman: World of Assassination, previously known as Hitman 3, has made its mark across an impressive array of platforms, boasting availability on more than ten systems. However, despite this extensive reach, players have long faced a frustrating barrier: their progress remained confined to each individual platform. For instance, a player who has achieved level 4,000 on the Nintendo Switch would find themselves starting from scratch upon switching to PC. This limitation has prompted a collective sigh of exasperation from the gaming community.
Cross-Progression Announcement
In a recent announcement on its website, IO Interactive (IOI) revealed that this long-awaited feature—cross-progression—will finally be implemented on February 3. The studio expressed its commitment to this enhancement from the outset, stating, “It has been our wish to enable this feature for players to be able to carry on their in-game progression… from the 3rd of February onwards, no matter where you choose to play.” This development is particularly exciting for those who enjoy the game across multiple platforms.
Moreover, IOI is also introducing a co-op mode titled “Stone and Knight.” This addition not only enhances the gameplay experience but also aligns with the studio’s efforts to facilitate seamless interaction between players on different platforms.
Starting February 3, players will be able to share a variety of metrics across platforms, including:
- Experience
- Player Level
- Challenges
- Location Mastery
- Unlocks and Inventory
- Achievements / Trophies
- Freelancer Mode Progression
- Campaign Story Progress
However, IOI has clarified that game and DLC licenses will not transfer between platforms. Players eager to continue their journey may need to invest again in their favorite titles. Additionally, it’s worth noting that while Hitman 3 allowed players to import progress from Hitman 2 upon its initial release, this option will no longer be available after February 3, 2026. The studio has stated, “To enable Cross-Progression in Hitman World of Assassination using our IOI Account, the Hitman 2 to Hitman 3 carryover process must be closed.” While this may pose a minor inconvenience, it’s unlikely to deter the dedicated fanbase of the franchise.
