In the vibrant universe of Borderlands 4, players step into the shoes of newly minted Vault Hunters, embarking on a mission to rally against the nefarious Timekeeper. However, the journey begins with an unexpected twist: a seemingly innocuous elevator stands in the way of progress, presenting a challenge that players must navigate before they can recruit allies for their cause.
How to start the Recruitment Drive quest in Borderlands 4
Following a chaotic tutorial that culminates in a dramatic escape, players find themselves washed ashore on the coast of Kairos. Here, the ever-enthusiastic Claptrap greets you with a rather jarring awakening. With the headquarters of the Crimson Rebellion eerily devoid of fellow rebels, the first task is clear: gather new recruits to bolster your ranks. Claptrap suggests commandeering the broadcast channel at the nearby Abandoned Post.
Your path to recruitment is not without its hurdles. After dispatching a handful of rippers, players will encounter a broken elevator keypad, blocking access to the upper levels of the post. To ascend, a Glide Pack is required, which can be found in a chest located within a nearby ripper camp.
Equipped with ECHO-4, players can easily pinpoint mission objectives and navigate through various groups of rippers until they reach the Riptide Grotto. Here, they will face off against the boss known as Splashzone. While not the most formidable of foes, the encounter requires players to keep moving in a circular arena, firing away until victory is achieved. Upon defeating Splashzone, players will be rewarded with the key to his chest, which contains the coveted Glide Pack. Claptrap will then prompt you to test your new acquisition on the way back to the Abandoned Post.
How to get elevator clearance in Borderlands 4
Upon reaching the top of the Abandoned Post, players will discover a closed door that only Claptrap can unlock. This is where the quest for elevator clearance begins. Players are encouraged to survey their surroundings, and a quick glance reveals several bodies nearby—one of which holds the key to progress. By interacting with the fallen human corpses, players can retrieve a Bolt from one of their heads.
With the Bolt in hand, the elevator can finally be summoned. Claptrap will then open the door to the Abandoned Post safehouse, allowing players to claim it as their own. Following a brief cutscene, Claptrap broadcasts a message across the planet, signaling the end of the Recruitment Drive quest and the beginning of a new adventure.
Before venturing forth, players may wish to take a moment to enhance their inventory space or respec their skills, ensuring they are well-prepared to tackle the challenges that lie ahead in the expansive world of Borderlands 4.
