Cinematic puzzle platforming adventure game LIFTED is set to make its debut on PC via Steam on July 22, with plans for future releases on PlayStation 5 and Switch 2, as announced by developer Adventure Works. Jeffrey Ashbrook, the founder of Adventure Works, expressed his passion for creating immersive experiences that resonate with both children and adults alike. “I grew up loving movies and games that made the world feel bigger than my living room,” he shared in a recent press release. “LIFTED is the closest I’ve gotten to making one. I wanted it to be a game kids could love on their own, and that parents could hand to them feeling like they were passing along a little of what they grew up on.”
In a quest to blend interactive storytelling with the nostalgia of classic cinema, Ashbrook has drawn upon his extensive experience in designing attractions for Disney Parks, including the popular Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. His vision for Adventure Works is to share original narratives while employing the immersive techniques that have captivated audiences in live experiences.
At the heart of LIFTED lies the unlikely duo of Ari Buktu and Professor Lionel Raventhorpe. Their journey begins with a simple request for extra credit, quickly spiraling into an epic adventure across time and space. Their mission? To locate a legendary tiara, the perfect gift for Professor Raventhorpe’s beloved, Miss Barton, who resides just down the hall.
Players can expect a vibrant journey inspired by the charm of ’80s blockbusters, filled with thrilling escapades devoid of violence. The game invites players to traverse breathtaking locations, from the sands of 1818 Egypt to the mysteries of ancient Mayan civilizations. Along the way, they will encounter challenging puzzles, engage in humorous antics, and evade some of history’s most notorious troublemakers in their quest for treasure.
With a narrative crafted by Austin Film Festival winner Nick Gambino, LIFTED promises to immerse players in a world brimming with heart, imagination, and whimsical humor.
