Love Albany sets ‘Minecraft,’ ‘Hoppers’ for free summer movie series

Love Albany has unveiled its much-anticipated schedule for the annual summer series, “Movies Under the Stars.” This initiative, a cherished ministry of Christ’s Church Albany, is dedicated to fostering community spirit through engaging events. In collaboration with various city partners, the organization is set to present four delightful films across different parks in Albany.

Film Schedule and Community Engagement

The event is a collaborative effort involving the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs, Albany Community Land Trust Gun Violence Prevention, Lincoln Park Alliance, the RED Bookshelf, and the Pine Hills Neighborhood Association. Each film screening will take place in a designated park, creating a vibrant atmosphere for families and friends to gather.

This year’s lineup promises to entertain audiences of all ages, with pre-show festivities commencing before each film. Attendees can enjoy:

  • Lawn games
  • Nonprofit information booths
  • Complimentary popcorn
  • A bounce house for the little ones

As the sun sets, the cinematic experience will begin, inviting the community to unwind under the stars. The city’s Department of Recreation, Albany Public Library, and Honest Weight Co-op are also lending their support as sponsors, further enriching this beloved summer tradition.
