Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC Patch 5 Released, Bringing Various Performance & Optimization Improves

Nixxes has unveiled Title Update 5 for the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, accompanied by a comprehensive set of patch notes detailing the enhancements and fixes included in this update. The latest patch is designed to elevate the gaming experience through a series of performance and optimization improvements.

Performance Enhancements and Optimizations

Among the notable updates, Patch 5 upgrades DirectStorage to version 1.2.3, which is anticipated to reduce stuttering during city traversal. This enhancement is particularly significant for players utilizing GPUs with less than 8GB of VRAM, as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 employs GPU decompression for DirectStorage, potentially taxing the memory resources of these graphics cards.

Furthermore, the update optimizes gameplay while controlling Venom, enhancing combat against Symbiotes, and improving cinematic sequences featuring these characters. Players can also expect advancements in screen space reflections, minimizing flickering effects when viewing large bodies of water from nearly straight angles, which is a welcome change for those opting out of ray-traced reflections.

Nixxes emphasizes that this update not only boosts performance but also enhances overall game stability. It introduces additional fixes for DLSS Ray Reconstruction, along with various improvements to ray-traced ambient occlusion and shadows.

While I have yet to personally test the latest version, my previous experience with the game’s support for DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation indicated that it performed well, despite some minor artifacts at higher settings. I plan to conduct a thorough evaluation of the updated game in December 2025, coinciding with our annual assessment of the best and worst optimized PC games.

As is customary, Steam will automatically download this update upon the next launch of its client. Below, you will find the complete changelog for Patch 5.
