Developer Moon Studios has officially reclaimed its independence, a significant milestone celebrated during their recent Wicked Inside event. At this gathering, the company unveiled exciting details about their upcoming action RPG, No Rest For the Wicked.
Publishing Rights Secured
In a strategic move, Moon Studios announced that it has acquired the publishing rights for No Rest For the Wicked from Private Division, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive, which was sold off in November 2024. This acquisition marks a pivotal moment for the studio as it charts its own course in the gaming landscape.
To bolster its operations, Moon Studios has also welcomed former staff from Annapurna Interactive, who will assist in managing the remaining aspects of the company’s portfolio. This infusion of talent is expected to enhance the studio’s creative output and operational efficiency.
Celebrating Success
In a moment of reflection, Thomas Mahler, the founder of Moon Studios, took to Twitter to share some remarkable news: the Ori series, comprising The Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps, has achieved a combined sales figure exceeding 15 million copies. Mahler expressed gratitude to the community, stating, “Not too shabby for a Metroidvania and a genre we were told is dead when we started to work on it. So thank you to everyone who supported us so far.”
This achievement not only underscores the enduring appeal of the Metroidvania genre but also highlights Moon Studios’ ability to defy industry expectations and connect with players on a profound level.
