San Mateo-based developer Manticoer Games has unveiled its latest creation, the multiplayer roguelike action game Out of Time, set to launch this fall on the Epic Games Store for .99. Pre-orders are currently open, offering players the enticing “The Temporal Disaster Pack,” which includes three time-twisted mounts, three hero emotes, and four avatars from alternate timelines.
Jordan Maynard, chief creative officer at Manticore Games, expressed the team’s vision for Out of Time in a recent press release: “With this game, we aimed to craft a wholly unique experience that melds my favorite gameplay mechanics: the finest elements of roguelike, real-time multiplayer, and MMO raids. The result is an explosive cocktail of epic combat, infinite replayability, and deep social features, all set within a universe where time itself has fractured, allowing past, present, and future to collide.”
Frederic Descamps, CEO of Manticore Games, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating intricate and immersive multiplayer experiences. He noted, “We’ve constructed Out of Time as a massively expandable dynamic universe utilizing the Core user-generated content platform alongside Unreal Engine. Our plans extend beyond the initial launch, with more eras, player-versus-player modes, and additional platforms already in the pipeline.”
Game Overview
Welcome to Out of Time, an action roguelike where the fabric of time has unraveled, leaving a beautifully chaotic world in its wake. Players, alongside their friends, will have access to an endless array of gear and weapon combinations to assemble their own unique group of survivors. However, the stakes are high, as humanity is ensnared in a perilous gauntlet filled with dragons, mutant crabs, malevolent humanoids, warped beasts, killer robots, and much more—often all at once. And looming over them all is the greatest threat of all: time itself.
The chaos stems from an event known as The Shattering, which fused past, present, and future into an unpredictable and ever-evolving battleground. Survivors from various eras converge in Infinitopia, the last stronghold of civilization, embarking on fast-paced solo or cooperative missions to reclaim their reality from the clutches of chaos.
But there’s hope! The Shattering not only brings challenges but also gifts players with an arsenal of gear and weaponry spanning from medieval times to futuristic cyberpunk realms, prehistoric epochs, and post-apocalyptic landscapes. With over 190 million gear combinations available, players can truly customize their loadouts for each adventure. In this world, traditional class systems are cast aside; every player selects the gear set that aligns with their desired play style for each run.
