New Space Marine 2 update rushes a sniper nerf out early, but also solves the Warhammer 40k shooter’s friendly fire woes

Updates to Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 Enhance Gameplay Experience

Today marks a notable moment for players of Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2, as Saber Interactive rolls out Patch 10.2, bringing a mix of enhancements and adjustments to the game. This latest update aims to refine the high-energy gameplay that fans have come to love, particularly in its PvE and PvP modes, while addressing some pressing balance issues.

One of the most significant changes in this patch is the modification of the sniper’s camo cloak ability. Previously, players could exploit a technique known as ‘cloak cancels,’ allowing them to maintain near-permanent invisibility and effectively evade damage. Recognizing the impact of this strategy on gameplay, Saber has opted for a nuanced approach rather than a complete ban. The first three uses of the camo cloak will no longer deplete energy, but the fourth use will consume 5%, with each subsequent activation increasing the cost. After a ten-second cooldown, the energy cost resets to zero, encouraging more strategic use of the ability.

In addition to the sniper adjustments, Patch 10.2 addresses a bug that led to friendly fire incidents caused by certain perks, such as the Ascension perk for assaults. This fix should enhance cooperative play, allowing players to utilize their abilities without inadvertently harming teammates. Furthermore, flame effects from allied players have been made more visible, and bots will now navigate elevators more effectively during Exfil operations.

The heroic chainsword has also seen a rebalancing, with adjustments to its base stats. Players can now enjoy a new stomp attack following the standard light, heavy, heavy combo, and all heavy attacks will deal 15% more damage. Additionally, the frequency of Chaos Spawn encounters has been slightly reduced, aligning their appearance rate with that of Tyranid Warriors.

Space Marine 2 patch 10.2 is now live, and players are encouraged to explore the full patch notes released by Saber Interactive. For those seeking more cooperative gaming experiences, a selection of the best co-op games on PC is available, ensuring that players can find enjoyment in various gaming styles.
