PC games generated $41.6bn during 2025

According to recent insights from Midia Research, the PC gaming sector is projected to generate an impressive .6 billion in revenue for the year 2024. This figure is expected to rise to .5 billion in 2025 and reach a remarkable .8 billion by 2031. Within the broader gaming landscape, PC games accounted for 21 percent of total gaming revenue in 2024, trailing behind consoles, which are anticipated to bring in .5 billion, and mobile gaming, leading the pack with a staggering 8.1 billion.

Market Dynamics and Premium Revenue

Interestingly, PC titles are set to contribute significantly to premium revenue, comprising 38 percent of this segment for the year, which includes downloadable content (DLC). This highlights the enduring appeal of PC games, even as the market evolves.

In a candid assessment of the current gaming landscape, analyst Rhys Elliott remarked that the era of double-digit growth is now a distant memory, as the market matures. He emphasized that the latest report, Midia Research’s Global Games Forecasts 2025–2031, serves as a critical resource for understanding these shifts. “The key takeaway: the games market is mature, and double-digit growth is a fantasy,” he stated. “It’s not ‘survive till ’25’ anymore – it’s stick till ’26 with tempered expectations.”

As the industry navigates this transformative period, it faces challenges that could be described as daunting. The evolving dynamics of the global games market suggest a need for adaptation and resilience among stakeholders, as they prepare for what lies ahead in this ever-changing environment.
