June 6, 2026 – WheelMates, the innovative co-op driving adventure from developer Firevolt, invites players to embark on a whimsical journey through the secret-laden abode of an eccentric scientist. Set to launch on Monday, September 7, on PC via Steam, this unique experience will also feature a Friends Pass at launch, allowing two players to enjoy the game with just one copy. This exciting announcement was made during the Future Games Show.
Gameplay and Features
Players can dive into the updated Steam Next Fest demo starting June 7, where they will have the opportunity to explore the narrative by scanning various objects and uncovering memory cards that unveil the backstory of the house’s owner. The demo introduces a Journal feature, enabling players to revisit clues and piece together the mystery. Enhanced controls offer more flexible handling options, additional camera settings—including free camera control—and support for Steam Deck, ensuring a smooth gameplay experience.
In WheelMates, players will navigate a maze-like laboratory filled with oversized household items that conceal the bizarre experiments of the missing scientist. Collaborating as two RC cars, players must work together to access tight spaces and uncover secrets hidden within the playful environment. The game features a series of unlockable escape rooms set in the Kitchen, Garage, Backyard, and other intriguing crawlspaces, presenting environmental puzzles that challenge teamwork and creativity.
Effective communication is key as players tackle complex tasks that require synchronized efforts to unlock every corner of the house. As players progress, they can upgrade their RC cars with physics-based rope swings, magnetic wheels, and other inventive gadgets, transforming teamwork into a pathway for discovery and fun.
WheelMates encourages players to engage in shared problem-solving at their own pace, fostering enjoyable moments without the pressure of performance. The game is designed to enhance the cooperative experience, making it an ideal choice for friends looking to embark on a lighthearted adventure together.
As the launch date approaches, players can look forward to the official release on Steam for PC and Steam Deck on September 7, 2026. The Friends Pass will be available alongside the Steam version, further enhancing the cooperative gameplay experience. Additionally, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are currently in development and will be released at a later date.
WheelMates will support 14 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish (both Spain and Latin America), Simplified Chinese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Russian, Italian, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Belarusian, ensuring accessibility for a diverse audience.
