Romestead Set to Enter Early Access
Romestead, an innovative survival RPG townbuilder set against the backdrop of a fallen Rome, is poised to make its debut in early access next month. During the recent Triple-i showcase, developers Beartwigs announced that the game will be available on Steam Early Access starting May 26. This exciting title, published by Three Friends—a collaboration of industry veterans from Minecraft and Valheim—has already garnered significant attention, ranking as one of the standout games during the February 2026 Steam Next Fest.
With over 250,000 wishlists and a commendable position as the 10th most-played game during the festival, Romestead invites players to engage in the ambitious task of reconstructing Ancient Rome from its ruins. The game supports cooperative play, allowing up to eight players to join forces in their quest to rebuild this iconic civilization.
Interestingly, the creative journey of Romestead has not been without its challenges. The renowned creator of Stardew Valley provided insights into the development process, revealing that the game underwent a rigorous six-month evaluation before its launch. It wasn’t until the final moments of development that the pieces truly came together, highlighting the dedication and resilience of the team behind this captivating project.
