Seamless Gaming Experience Across Devices
Microsoft has unveiled an innovative service for Xbox Insiders, integrating all cloud-playable games and their play histories into the official Xbox PC app. This new feature encompasses console exclusives from various generations, alongside a vast array of other titles, enhancing the gaming experience for users.
The standout aspect of this service is its ability to synchronize recently-played games across multiple devices, including Xbox consoles, PCs, and Windows handhelds. This functionality simplifies the transition for gamers who might switch from an Xbox Series X to a PC, allowing them to effortlessly dive back into their favorite titles.
The introduction of a dedicated “play history” section within the PC app and Xbox console user interface enables players to view their cloud games as part of their recently-played list. This feature ensures that players can access their game saves without any interruptions, maximizing their gaming time. As part of the Xbox Cloud Gaming ecosystem, users can initiate a game on one platform and seamlessly continue on another, even if the game isn’t natively supported on the second device.
Additionally, the revamped library section of the Xbox app introduces a new search filter specifically for cloud games, complemented by a “jump back in” list prominently displayed on the app’s home screen. This design enhancement allows users to easily locate and resume their gaming sessions. As highlighted in a recent blog post by the company, “While the large tiles highlight games you’ve recently played on your current device, the play history tile shows games you’ve played across any Xbox device, making it easy to pick up where you left off.”
This advancement is made possible through a comprehensive redesign of the library feature within the Xbox app, enabling gamers to launch titles purchased from various platforms from a single, convenient location.
