Google Expands Support for Android Games on AMD PCs

During this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC), Google made an exciting announcement regarding its Android games support. The tech giant revealed that it is now extending its support to PCs running on AMD hardware, a move that was previously unavailable.

Previously, the official Google Play Games app for Windows did not offer support for AMD CPUs and GPUs. The app required users to have at least an Intel UHD Graphics 630 integrated GPU, with Nvidia GeForce MX450 being the recommended option. However, with this recent expansion, users with integrated AMD graphics can now enjoy Android games through the Google Play Games app.

Moreover, the updated app will provide users with information on which games are compatible with their hardware. Games will be labeled as “Optimized”, “Playable”, or incompatible, allowing users to easily identify which games will run smoothly on their PCs.

In addition to these enhancements, Google is introducing new features such as multi-account and multi-instance support, features that were previously only available on third-party emulators.

Google is also collaborating with PC OEMs to have the Google Play Games app pre-installed on their computers, starting later this year. This strategic move aims to expand the reach of Android games beyond traditional Android devices.

Furthermore, once a game is published on Google Play, it will automatically appear on the Google Play Games app for Windows unless the developer chooses to opt out.
