Many individuals have expressed their frustrations online, noting that they are unable to log into their accounts. One user took to X (formerly Twitter) to share, “Ummm guys, Spotify has crashed.” Another echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Spotify is not working, I can’t log into my account. Please update soon.” A third user, managing multiple accounts, questioned, “What just happened? Why am I unable to log back into all my accounts on Spotify? I have 10 premium accounts and 20 free accounts… why am I unable to access all accounts?”

Another frustrated Spotify user reported on Downdetector, “Can’t search anything on Spotify, tried using data and my internet and it’s just not working.”

Spotify has been reached for comment regarding these ongoing issues.

What is Downdetector?

Downdetector serves as a valuable online resource, allowing users of various popular services—including X, Instagram, Facebook, and Virgin Media—to report any difficulties they are experiencing. The platform only registers an incident when the volume of problem reports significantly exceeds the typical amount for that time of day.

As described on its website, Downdetector is “where people go when services don’t work.” The site actively monitors disruptions across a range of essential services, including internet providers, web hosting platforms, banks, and social media networks.

Users can engage with the platform by submitting their own issue reports, contributing to a collective understanding of service reliability.

Downdetector also gathers problem indicators from social media and other online sources. These reports undergo real-time validation and analysis, leading to the detection of incidents when the number of reports surpasses the typical average for a specific service.

When users investigate issues on the platform, they can view the most reported problems and identify whether their areas fall within outage hotspots. This collaborative approach not only enhances user awareness but also fosters community engagement in addressing service disruptions.
