Meta has unveiled an exciting array of enhancements to its Messenger app, prominently featuring the introduction of HD video call support. This new capability is designed to elevate the user experience, allowing for clearer and more vibrant conversations.
HD video calls are automatically enabled when users are connected to Wi-Fi, with the option to activate them during mobile data calls through the Call Settings menu. This menu also provides users with the ability to fine-tune their experience by adjusting noise suppression settings and selecting audio output preferences. In addition, users can now leave voice or video messages, adding a new layer of convenience to their communications.
While platforms like Google Meet, Zoom, and FaceTime have long incorporated these features, Meta’s approach brings a fresh twist. The AI-generated backgrounds, a feature already familiar to Zoom and Meet users, can be accessed in Messenger by clicking the effects icon in the call’s sidebar. Users simply enter a description of their desired background, and Meta’s AI takes care of the rest, crafting a unique backdrop for their video calls.
Moreover, Meta is expanding its AI capabilities beyond video calls. The integration of AI-generated image creation is now available in Messenger chats, as well as on Facebook and Instagram, enhancing the creative possibilities for users across these platforms.
In a move towards greater accessibility, Meta has also introduced hands-free calling and messaging through Apple’s Siri voice assistant. By incorporating Messenger into Siri’s functionality, users can seamlessly send messages or initiate calls without needing to interact directly with their devices.
As these features roll out, Meta has also made significant statements regarding the future direction of Facebook, hinting at a commitment to innovation and user engagement in the evolving digital landscape.
