Google Wallet’s Revamped User Experience

Google Wallet is embarking on a significant transformation with a fresh redesign of its Android app, particularly enhancing the user experience for managing passes. While the upper section of the app’s homepage remains familiar, the area beneath the credit and debit card carousel has undergone a complete overhaul.

The new layout introduces a more organized display of passes, now arranged in pairs across the screen rather than spanning its full width. Each card is adorned with a themed background, creating a visually distinct and engaging experience for users.

In addition to the aesthetic changes, functionality has also been improved. Users can now easily reorder their passes by simply holding down and dragging them into their preferred arrangement. Furthermore, the app offers enhanced control over which passes are visible on the homepage, allowing for a more personalized experience.

Another notable change is the replacement of the large floating action button (FAB) in the bottom-right corner. It has been transformed into a centered, split-button variant. The right side continues to direct users to the familiar “Add to Wallet” screen, while the “View more” option opens a new page dedicated to searching through the Wallet for transactions, payment methods, and loyalty cards.

This new section is thoughtfully divided into Transactions and Passes, showcasing recent activity for easy access. Users can also tap on “Manage passes on home” to star or remove items from their homepage display.

The rollout of this redesigned Google Wallet is currently in progress across various devices. To ensure access to the latest features, users are encouraged to update to the most recent versions of Google Wallet and Google Play services (stable 26.15.33).
