Google’s Find Hub app redesign is rolling out for Android users

What you need to know

In a significant update for Android users, Google has unveiled its revamped Find Hub app, which is now rolling out to replace the former Find My Device application. This transition, announced during The Android Show: I/O Edition last week, is designed to better encapsulate the app’s expanded functionality, allowing users to track not only devices but also items and people.

The Google Play Store has been updated to reflect this new identity, and users will need to search for “Find Hub” to access the latest version. The current version number is 3.1.337-2, and once the update is applied, users will notice the new branding throughout the app. Previously, the app was abbreviated to “Find Device” on the home screen, but it has now fully embraced the Find Hub name.

In addition to the name change, the Find Hub app introduces a noteworthy enhancement: the People tab has officially exited beta testing. This improvement comes alongside a redesigned settings page, which now offers distinct sections for Find Hub and Google Location Sharing. Users can easily access these features by tapping their profile picture within the app after the update.

Looking ahead, Google has ambitious plans for Find Hub, with two exciting features slated for release by the end of 2025. These include precision finding capabilities utilizing ultra-wideband (UWB) technology and enhanced satellite connectivity, promising to elevate the app’s tracking capabilities even further.

Despite these advancements, it’s worth noting that Google’s official website continues to reference the older Find My Device branding, indicating a transitional phase as the new app gains traction among users.
