Google Apps with Predictive Back Enabled in Android 15
With Android 15 now enabling predictive back by default, users will notice a new feature in various Google apps. This feature allows for a preview of the homescreen as you swipe back, providing a visual confirmation before exiting the app and preventing accidental closures.
This functionality works when swiping from the left or right edge of the screen and has been a long-term project for Google. The development of this feature began in Android 13 and is now finally being enabled by default in Android 15, eliminating the need for users to access a Developer option.
Additionally, developers have the option to implement in-app predictive back, creating custom transitions and animations within their apps. For example, Gmail has incorporated this feature when transitioning from an email back to the inbox, while Google Calendar utilizes it when closing an event.
