In a notable expansion of its music integration capabilities, TikTok has announced the addition of YouTube Music to its “Add to Music app” feature. This enhancement allows users to seamlessly save songs discovered on the popular social media platform directly to YouTube Music, enriching their listening experience.
New Features for Users
As reported by TechCrunch, starting today, TikTok users will see YouTube Music listed among the streaming service options when they tap the “Add Song” button located beneath each video description. This means that any song users come across on TikTok can now be effortlessly added to their YouTube Music library, appearing in the dedicated TikTok Songs playlist.
By selecting YouTube Music, it becomes the default application for saving tracks. However, users have the flexibility to change their preferred streaming service by navigating to the Settings menu and selecting the Music option.
Tracy Gardner, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, emphasized the impact of the “Add to Music app” feature, stating,
“Add to Music App continues to deliver real results for the music industry, with hundreds of millions of track saves translating into billions of streams on music streaming services.”
Initially, when TikTok launched the “Add to Music app” feature in 2023, it was limited to a select few streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, and was available only in the US and UK. Since then, the feature has expanded to include additional services like Deezer and SoundCloud, reaching over 160 countries worldwide.
