Starting May 5, Lidl will replace its Coupon Plus feature with a new rewards system called Lidl Plus Points. Customers will have until May 4 to meet their April spending targets under the current program. While Coupon Plus will be discontinued, Personalised Coupons and Weekly Offers will remain unchanged. Under the previous Coupon Plus program, customers earned rewards through monthly spending milestones, while the new Lidl Plus Points system allows customers to collect points for every purchase (£1 = one point) and redeem them for rewards in the Rewards Marketplace. From May 5 to May 22, customers will earn double points on fresh fruit and 100 welcome points by opening the app until July 31. Louise Weise, chief customer officer at Lidl GB, mentioned that customer feedback inspired the transition to Lidl Plus Points, which aims to provide more flexibility in rewards. Reactions from customers have been mixed, with some expressing nostalgia for the old system. Further details can be found on Lidl's website.

Experts advise against postponing Windows updates, as Microsoft has introduced features allowing users to control when updates occur. Users can pause updates for up to 35 days indefinitely, but delaying updates can lead to security vulnerabilities. Microsoft releases several types of updates: security updates, feature updates, quality updates, driver updates, optional updates, out-of-band updates, and zero-day updates. Zero-day updates are critical and should be installed immediately to avoid exploitation. Recent reports indicate that critical OS patching for Windows 10 and 11 is lagging by an average of 256 days, increasing the risk of cyber incidents.

YouTuber Ocelot has analyzed the various versions of Half-Life 2, highlighting significant differences among them. The retail version was enhanced during its re-release in the Orange Box, which included a higher-resolution Alyx. The game received a major update for its 20th anniversary, featuring improvements such as better lighting effects, refined fire and blood visuals, changes to G-Man's eye design, and variations in cloth texture shininess. Notably, the original version lacked on-screen chapter titles. Ocelot also discussed the evolution of gameplay elements, specifically the buoyancy puzzle in Route Kanal, which was more challenging in earlier builds but has been simplified in the current version. Additionally, he explored console ports and a rare Japanese arcade version that included multiplayer and a condensed story mode.

Microsoft has introduced a feature in the Microsoft Defender dashboard to help IT managers identify devices using 2011 Secure Boot certificates, which expire in June of this year. The recommendation view categorizes devices into three groups: Exposed Devices (trust outdated certificates), Compliant Devices (use new 2023 certificates), and Not Applicable Devices (Secure Boot disabled or unsupported). The dashboard provides a centralized overview of device security status and the distribution of 2023 certificates, allowing filtering by operating system and device context. Devices without the new certificates will still boot but may lack the latest protection during the early boot phase, exposing them to threats. Microsoft does not automatically distribute new certificates via Windows updates on servers, requiring manual action from administrators. The dashboard aids IT teams in prioritizing action on Exposed Devices and exporting data for collaboration.

Microsoft has introduced a preview of Auto SR, an AI-driven upscaling technology for Xbox Insiders using the ROG Xbox Ally X handheld. This feature upgrades game output from 720p to 1440p and increases frame rates by about 30% in docked mode. Auto SR operates at the OS level, requiring no developer patches, but is limited to games that support DirectX 11 and 12, excluding titles using DirectX 9, Vulkan, and OpenGL. Currently, it is available only for the ROG Xbox Ally X and Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon X chips, and the preview is invite-only and docked mode only. Early feedback indicates some user interface artifacts and a battery drain of 8–12% on the Ally X. A broader rollout for Windows began on April 30, 2026, but no specific consumer launch date has been announced. Auto SR is not intended for the upcoming Project Helix Xbox console, which will use AMD FSR Diamond instead.

Mojang announced Minecraft Dungeons 2 during Minecraft Live 2026, confirming its release in Fall 2026. The game will be available on Windows PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2, with Game Pass support. A trailer hinted at new challenges involving Sculk blocks and the Deep Dark biome, and a QR code in the trailer led to a secret video with the term "spicewood." The original Minecraft Dungeons, released in 2020, faced criticism for repetitiveness and lack of endgame content, prompting Mojang to halt its development.

Microsoft has modified the default behavior of the Widgets feature in Windows 11, confirming that the MSN feed will no longer be displayed by default when users hover over the Widgets icon. This change is being gradually rolled out through the Windows 11 Insider Experimental Preview Build 26300.8346. The updated Widgets experience includes several modifications: - The Widgets board will no longer open on hover; users must click the Widgets icon to access it. - Taskbar badging for breaking news and alerts will be turned off by default. - Animated taskbar alerts will only appear after user interaction with the Widgets board. - Upon first launching the Widgets board, users will see core widgets like weather and calendar instead of the MSN news feed. Users can manually customize their Widgets experience by disabling the "Open Widgets board on hover" option, turning off the MSN feed, or completely removing Widgets from Windows 11. Additionally, a redesign of the MSN feed is planned, featuring rounded corners to distinguish it from the Widgets. Microsoft aims to create a calmer operating system by reducing distractions and excessive notifications.
