Google has unveiled its September 2026 Android Drop, introducing a suite of innovative features designed to enhance user experience and functionality across devices.
Find Hub Remembered
The Find Hub and Gemini applications have received a significant upgrade, allowing users to track items that lack traditional tracker tags. With a simple voice command, users can instruct Gemini to remember the locations of important belongings. For instance, one might say, “Hey Google, remember in Find Hub that I put my passport in my bedroom drawer,” and even attach a photo for reference.
This feature stores the location in a newly created “Remembered” tab within the Find Hub app. Users can easily inquire about the whereabouts of their items using voice commands. This functionality is rolling out for devices running Android 16 and above.
Motion Assist
For those prone to motion sickness, Android 17+ introduces Motion Assist, a feature designed to mitigate discomfort during travel. This tool employs a subtle bubble overlay on the screen that moves in sync with the vehicle’s motion, effectively bridging the gap between visual perception and physical movement.
Users have the option to customize the bubble’s color, shape, and opacity, with the added feature of changing these parameters every few seconds. Motion Assist can be activated automatically when the device detects movement in a car, bus, or train, and it also includes a Quick Settings Tile shortcut for ease of access.
Gemini Live Guided Vision
Another exciting addition is the Guided Vision feature in Gemini Live, which provides verbal descriptions of the user’s surroundings. This functionality is particularly useful for tasks such as reading fine print on food labels, ordering from dimly lit menus, or locating household items.
If your camera isn’t aligned correctly, voice feedback will assist in reframing, panning, or centering objects to ensure you receive the necessary information.
Guided Vision will be accessible as an Accessibility shortcut or through the TalkBack menu, and it is set to roll out soon for devices running Android 9 and above in regions where Gemini is available.
Google Messages Keep Integration
In a move to streamline communication, Google Messages is now integrating with Google Keep. This enhancement allows users to share and update grocery lists or vacation notes directly within their chats.
A “Create list” suggestion and a ‘plus’ menu shortcut will facilitate the creation of shared notes, which will appear inline once completed. This integration is being rolled out starting today, further enriching the user experience within Google’s messaging platform.
