Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced Windows 11 26H1, which was exclusively available for Windows-on-Arm devices, primarily those powered by Snapdragon chips. While the announcement was made during Computex, the market debut of notebooks and mini PCs featuring RTX Spark is anticipated this Fall, with these devices set to launch alongside Windows 11 26H1.

Windows 11 26H2 is characterized as a minor update rather than a comprehensive overhaul. It shares the same code base as its predecessor, 25H2, meaning users can expect a seamless transition without the need for a complete system file replacement or a migration of their existing environment. Moreover, the update to 26H2 is recommended for users, as Microsoft will continue to provide security updates for Windows 11 versions extending back two years—specifically for 24H2, 25H2, and the new 26H2. These versions lock onto a particular kernel code base, ensuring that security updates are available until a predetermined future date.
