Microsoft says it’s rebuilding Windows 11 around what users actually want: performance, reliability, quality and craft

Microsoft has reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing Windows 11, emphasizing that the operating system’s evolution will be guided by consumer feedback, particularly from the Windows Insiders community. A dedicated team of product experts and engineers, who are genuinely passionate about their work, has been assembled to steer this initiative.

During a recent gathering with Windows Insiders in Seattle, Microsoft leadership shared insights into their ongoing analysis of user feedback collected over the past few months. This commitment to user input dispels any speculation that recent developments in Windows 11 were a reaction to Apple’s MacBook Neo. Instead, Microsoft has been actively engaging with critical feedback since early 2026, with heightened attention in recent months.

“Over the last couple of months, our team and I have been going through and analyzing feedback from the Windows Insiders, and what came through for us was really a community and a voice that really cares about Windows,” stated Pavan Davuluri, head of the Windows group at Microsoft.

Passionate people are rebuilding Windows 11

Pavan highlighted that when Microsoft employees are passionate about a product, extraordinary outcomes can be achieved. At the Seattle meetup, the company emphasized that all future changes will be directly influenced by user feedback, treating every suggestion as a valuable contribution that is taken very, very seriously.

Looking ahead, Pavan expressed enthusiasm for the future of the operating system in 2026, sharing a message that resonated with attendees: “I also want you to know this is the start. I’m really excited for what’s ahead. This year you’re going to see us really double down on it. Navjot and I have this frame of customer love equals performance; is it fast? Reliability: is it easy to use, does it do all the things I think of from a quality perspective? And then craft, how do I feel? Does it make me happy? Do I feel connected to the product?”

“Our goal as we go forward is to be more open as we build Windows, make sure you feel like you are included in the entire lifecycle of our product making process, and then make sure this is a vibrant community and we are just grateful for a chance to get some time with you all.”

Windows 11 could actually end up becoming one of the most stable operating systems

There is a growing sentiment that Microsoft’s intentions are genuine, as internal builds already showcase many of the anticipated changes. Reports indicate that Microsoft has ambitious plans for Windows 11, aiming for noticeable enhancements across the board. The company is addressing legacy interfaces, including the ‘Installing Windows 11’ screen, and is set to improve multitasking capabilities, starting with increased customization for Virtual Desktops.

Among the forthcoming features are the ability to resize the taskbar and the Start menu, reminiscent of Windows 10. Additional improvements include:

  • A faster File Explorer
  • A cleaner Notifications Center
  • Fewer reboots during Windows updates
  • The option to pause updates indefinitely
  • Reduced upsells during the Out-Of-Box Experience (OOBE)

With eighteen major improvements already identified and the list continuing to grow, the question remains: What changes would you like to see in Windows 11? Share your thoughts in the comments, and we’ll ensure your feedback reaches the leadership team!
