Microsoft wants users to ditch Windows 10 before its imminent death — Using Copilot+ PCs with Recall to upsell Windows 11

As the countdown to the end of support for Windows 10 approaches on October 14, 2025, Microsoft is adopting a more nuanced approach to encourage users to transition to Windows 11. Moving away from the intrusive full-screen pop-up advertisements of the past, the tech giant is introducing a sophisticated strategy centered around its new Copilot+ PCs.

For those still operating a Windows 10 device that is over five years old and heavily integrated into Microsoft’s ecosystem, the prospect of upgrading to Windows 11 is likely on the horizon. However, the stringent system requirements set by Microsoft pose a significant hurdle for many users wishing to make the leap.

Copilot+ PCs not only meet all the system requirements for Windows 11 but also introduce a suite of AI-powered features. These include:

  • Performance: Delivering up to 13% faster performance than the MacBook Air M4 among top-performing devices, providing unmatched AI experiences in the market.
  • Speed: Operating up to 5 times faster than a five-year-old Windows device, equipped with enhanced security features that make them the most secure Windows PCs ever built.
  • Battery Life: Offering the longest-lasting battery among Windows PCs, with up to 22 hours of video playback and 15 hours of web browsing, ensuring users can stay productive throughout the day on a single charge.

Interestingly, Microsoft reports a growing acceptance of Copilot+ PCs. In its January report, the company noted that up to 15% of premium-priced laptops in the U.S. during the holiday quarter were Copilot+ PCs. This figure is expected to rise, with Microsoft aiming for the majority of PCs sold in the coming years to be Copilot+ models.

As Windows 11’s market share steadily climbs to 42.69%, Windows 10 still holds a significant lead at 54.2%. The impending end of Windows 10 support raises the question: will users be motivated to upgrade to Windows 11 and invest in Copilot+ PCs, or will they seek alternatives to extend the life of their current devices?
