Qualcomm is enhancing its commitment to gaming with significant advancements in its Snapdragon X and forthcoming X2 series chips. In a recent blog post, the ARM system-on-chip (SoC) manufacturer unveiled a suite of features designed to elevate the gaming experience, including a new control panel, downloadable GPU driver updates, and expanded anti-cheat support.
New Control Panel and Features
The newly introduced control panel is set to become the Snapdragon equivalent of popular applications like Nvidia’s App and AMD’s Adrenalin Edition. This intuitive interface comprises four distinct sub-menus: graphics, software, system info, and preferences. Within the graphics menu, users can view all installed games and customize driver-related settings for each title. Options include upscaling, frame rate capping, anti-aliasing, texture filtering, and more, allowing gamers to tailor their experience to their preferences.
Expanded Anti-Cheat Support
Qualcomm has long integrated anti-cheat capabilities into its Snapdragon platform, but the latest update significantly broadens the range of supported programs. The platform now accommodates Tencent’s Anti-Cheat Expert, Roblox’s Hyperion, Denuvo, InProtect GameGuard, BattleEye, and Uncheater. Additionally, Epic Games has enhanced its Easy Anti-Cheat software to provide kernel-level anti-cheat functionalities specifically for the Snapdragon ecosystem.
AVX2 Emulation for Enhanced Compatibility
In a bid to further improve the gaming experience on Windows, Qualcomm is also working on integrating AVX2 emulation into its Snapdragon Windows-compatible chips. The Snapdragon X2 Elite is reported to already support this feature, while existing Snapdragon X-series chips are expected to receive the update in the coming weeks. This enhancement will enable Snapdragon chips to run an increasing number of AVX2 applications on Windows, including a variety of video games.
These developments underscore Qualcomm’s determination to refine the Windows gaming experience on its Snapdragon Windows SoCs, positioning the company as a key player in the evolving landscape of mobile and PC gaming.
