On the second Tuesday of October, the tech world turns its attention to Patch Tuesday, a day dedicated to updates for every supported version of Windows. This month’s updates are particularly noteworthy as they follow the official launch of Windows 11 version 24H2, bringing an array of enhancements and fixes to users.
Both Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 24H2 are set to receive significant updates, especially for those who may have missed the optional updates rolled out in recent weeks. As is customary, these Patch Tuesday updates serve to refine and finalize the features introduced in prior optional updates, making them mandatory for all users.
Windows 11 version 24H2 can finally change the scrolling direction for mice
Among the most anticipated changes in the latest update (KB5044284) for Windows 11 version 24H2 is the long-awaited ability to modify the scrolling direction for traditional mouse users. This enhancement is gradually rolling out, offering users a more tailored experience.
Additional updates in this release include a revamped user interface for media controls on the lock screen, aligning more closely with the overall design ethos of Windows 11. Users will also find an easier-to-access Sign out button in the Start menu, alongside the capability to share local files directly from the Windows Search results box.

For users on Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2, the updates are similarly impactful. The ability to adjust mouse scrolling direction is included, along with enhancements to media controls on the lock screen and file-sharing capabilities from Windows Search.
Notably, the Delivery Optimization settings page has undergone a redesign for version 23H2, aligning it more closely with the aesthetic of Windows 11, although this change is already familiar to 24H2 users.

Updates for other versions of Windows
