Microsoft has rolled out two cumulative updates for Windows 11, specifically KB5055523 and KB5055528, aimed at addressing security vulnerabilities and various system issues within versions 24H2 and 23H2. These updates are mandatory, as they include critical security patches from the April 2025 Patch Tuesday, targeting vulnerabilities identified in prior months.
Users can easily install the updates by navigating to Start > Settings > Windows Update and selecting ‘Check for Updates’. Alternatively, the updates are available for manual download from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
What’s new in the April 2025 Patch Tuesday update
Upon installation, the build number for Windows 11 24H2 (KB5055523) will be updated to Build 26100.3775, while 23H2 (KB5055528) will change to 226×1.5191. This month’s Patch Tuesday brings a host of new features, particularly for AI-powered Search on Copilot+ PCs:

Users can enter descriptive phrases like “summer picnics” in the File Explorer search box, and results will include both local and cloud-stored images. This feature works seamlessly with OneDrive when users are signed in with their Microsoft account.

- Numerous fixes have been implemented, addressing issues ranging from color profile settings to boot menu functionality, enhancing overall system reliability.
However, some common issues persist, such as the inability to play Roblox from the Store on ARM PCs and an incorrect Event 7023 error regarding SgrmBroker.exe. Users are encouraged to install the updates promptly to benefit from these enhancements and security improvements.
