Windows 11 KB5063878 & KB5063875 cumulative updates released

Microsoft has rolled out two significant cumulative updates for Windows 11: KB5063878 for version 24H2 and KB5063875 for version 23H2. These updates are essential, addressing security vulnerabilities and various issues that have surfaced over the past months.

To install the updates, users can navigate to Start > Settings > Windows Update and click on ‘Check for Updates’. Alternatively, the updates can be manually downloaded from the Microsoft Update Catalog. For those utilizing Windows 11 Enterprise or Windows Server with Hotpatch, the update KB5064010 will be available, featuring the same fixes but with a build number of 26100.4851.

What’s new in the August 2025 Patch Tuesday update

Upon installation, the build number for Windows 11 24H2 will change to 26100.4946, while 23H2 will update to 226×1.5768. Notably, Microsoft has indicated that support for Windows 11 23H2 will conclude on November 11, 2025, after which users will either be upgraded to 24H2 or cease to receive updates.

    • New! A Boolean option has been added to the Configure Start Pins policy, allowing admins to apply Start menu pins initially while permitting users to customize their layout thereafter.
  • [Snap]
    • New! Improvements to Snap functionality include inline messages that assist users in learning how to utilize Snap features effectively.
  • [Windows Search]
    • New! Windows Search settings have been consolidated into a single, user-friendly page for easier management.
  • [Input]
    • New! The Gamepad layout of the Windows touch keyboard has been enhanced to improve navigation and usability for gamers.
  • [File Explorer]
    • Fixed issues related to dropdown menus and file operation progress dialogs.
    • Addressed performance slowdowns when syncing multiple SharePoint sites.
  • [Desktop icons]
    • Fixed an issue where updated app icons might not display correctly on the desktop.
  • [Notifications]
    • Resolved a problem where selecting a Windows notification did not bring the associated app to the foreground.

Currently, Microsoft has reported no known issues with this update, ensuring a smooth transition for users as they enhance their systems with these critical improvements.
