Windows 11 users are celebrating — and roasting — Microsoft for bringing back classic taskbar features

In a recent report by Windows Central, Microsoft has officially announced its intention to reinstate movable and resizable Taskbar options in Windows 11. This development has elicited a range of responses from the community, particularly on platforms like Reddit, where users have expressed both enthusiasm and skepticism regarding the decision. While some users are pleased to see these features return, others are questioning the delay in their reintroduction.

For many long-time Windows users, the ability to customize the Taskbar was once a fundamental aspect of their experience. Consequently, the announcement is perceived by some as less of a groundbreaking innovation and more as a long-overdue restoration. This sentiment is reflected in the mixed reactions observed in various online comments.

On Reddit, user MSD3k remarked, “Oh good, crowing about bringing back standard features they arbitrarily ripped away. Should I get some balloons for the party?” Similarly, Bogdan_X, a Wintoys Developer, succinctly captured the frustration with, “What progress means to Microsoft: remove useful features, then add them back years later. Somehow we are supposed to be happy about this. Remarkable strategy!” Meanwhile, on Windows Central, NativeTech added a touch of irony, stating, “It’s finally happening?! I gotta tell the presses and let the world know. This is big. Bigger than 50000 big.”

This should be an afternoon’s work

Several commenters have raised eyebrows at the notion of restoring Taskbar movement being presented as a significant undertaking. On Windows Central, Ian_TO questioned, “This is a difficult thing to do? In a company where presumably tens of thousands of employees work on the Windows OS? This should be an afternoon’s work for a small team, no? What are MS’s quarter million employees working on?” Following suit, harold56 bluntly stated, “This was such an easy fix that can be applied in a week. I can’t take Microsoft seriously if this is their big fix.”

It appears that Microsoft is finally paying closer attention to user feedback.

Windows 11 users aren’t holding back on this one, and we want to hear from you too. Are you happy to see these classic taskbar features return, or frustrated they disappeared in the first place?
