You’ll never manually crop screenshots again thanks to this new Snipping Tool feature

If you frequently utilize the Snipping Tool, you’re likely familiar with the challenge of capturing just the right section of your screen. Often, users find themselves inadvertently including unnecessary details or extra space in their screenshots, leading to the need for retakes or cropping. Fortunately, Microsoft is addressing this common frustration with an exciting update to the Snipping Tool.

A new Perfect screenshot option can do it for you

In a recent announcement on the Windows Insider Blog, Microsoft revealed that the Snipping Tool, now at version 11.2504.38.0, will introduce two new features aimed at enhancing user experience. The standout addition is the Perfect screenshot feature, designed to eliminate the hassle of cropping or resizing screenshots.

This AI-driven functionality allows users to effortlessly capture content on their screens. By simply launching the Snipping Tool and selecting the Perfect screenshot button from the toolbar, users can choose the desired area to capture. The tool will then intelligently resize the selection based on the content, ensuring a clean and precise screenshot.

For those who prefer keyboard shortcuts, invoking the Perfect screenshot feature is just as easy. By holding the Ctrl key while selecting a region, users can access this innovative capability without additional clicks.

Additionally, the Snipping Tool will now include a color picker feature, enabling users to quickly obtain exact color values from anywhere on their screen. With just a click on the Color picker option in the toolbar, users can select a color and view its HEX, RGB, or HSL values, with the added benefit of a zoom feature for enhanced precision.

Both of these features are currently available exclusively on Copilot+ PCs.

Notepad and Paint are getting some cool upgrades too

In addition to the Snipping Tool enhancements, Microsoft is also rolling out exciting updates for Paint and Notepad. Paint will receive an AI-powered sticker generator, allowing users to create custom stickers by simply typing a description. The application will generate several sticker options based on the input, which can then be applied directly to the canvas or copied for use in other applications. A new Stickers option in the toolbar will provide easy access to recently generated stickers.

Moreover, Paint will introduce an Object select tool, which utilizes AI to automatically select objects within the canvas, streamlining the editing process.

Not to be left behind, Notepad will feature an AI-powered Write function, capable of drafting text based on user prompts. This feature promises to enhance productivity by providing quick text generation tailored to specific needs.

To access these new functionalities, users will need to sign in with their Microsoft account and maintain a subscription to Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Enterprise, or Copilot Pro.
