Battlefield 6 challenges will now waste far less of your time, as dev thanks players for a “storm of feedback”

Significant Updates to Battlefield 6 Challenges and Assignments

In a move that reflects a commitment to player satisfaction, lead producer David Sirland has announced substantial changes to the challenges and assignments in Battlefield 6. This decision comes in response to a “storm of feedback” from the gaming community, addressing some of the most pressing concerns regarding the completion of tasks within the first-person shooter.

Players often find themselves navigating a labyrinth of requirements to achieve major milestones with various weapons and tools. Battlefield Studios has taken steps to align these requirements with the intended time for completion, aiming to make them more attainable within a reasonable gaming session. The latest update, now live on servers, introduces significant reductions in challenge requirements, effectively decreasing the time investment while still emphasizing skill-driven progression.

The adjustments are not merely cosmetic; they are substantial. For instance, the challenge requiring squadmates to deploy on a player’s Spawn Beacon has been drastically reduced from 50 to just five. Similarly, the revive target for support players has been lowered from 200 to 60, streamlining the process and enhancing the overall gameplay experience.

On the assignments front, Battlefield Studios has clarified that these will continue to encompass a range of goals, from those achievable through regular play to more challenging tasks that reward true mastery, particularly in relation to cosmetic items. The studio acknowledged that some original criteria did not fully capture this intent, prompting updates that clarify the difficulty and purpose of these assignments.

Weapon-based assignments have also seen significant simplifications. For example, one assault rifle challenge now requires players to inflict 3,000 damage instead of the previous 10,000. Mode-specific assignments have been standardized to require two wins per tier, while ‘mastery’ style goals have been adjusted to better align with the natural rhythm of gameplay. Players will now need five multi-kills with explosives instead of 20, and the requirement for repairing vehicle damage in a single life has been reduced from 3,000 to 500.

In total, Battlefield Studios has implemented over 90 adjustments across the current list of challenges and assignments. Sirland has been proactive in gathering additional feedback through social media, expressing gratitude for the community’s input and encouraging continued dialogue. He stated, “Thanks for all the posts – keep ’em coming. Need to go action on a bunch of this now, so going a little inactive here for a bit. Still seeing and listening to all of that, though.”

For players looking to enhance their experience, a tier list of the best Battlefield 6 weapons is available, along with a guide to optimize performance and frame rate for PC and Steam Deck users.
