Kakao Games to Launch SMiniz Mobile Game Globally

Kakao Games has announced the global launch of its upcoming mobile title SMiniz on Feb. 25 for iOS and Android devices. Developed in partnership with SM Entertainment, the match-3 puzzle game features stylized chibi versions of artists from NCT, RIIZE, and aespa, catering to K-pop fans worldwide.

In SMiniz, players will engage in match-3 puzzle stages while interacting with miniature character versions inspired by SM Entertainment’s artists. The gameplay is described as accessible, focusing on casual puzzle mechanics and collectible elements rather than competitive aspects.

To support the launch, Kakao Games will host promotional events including an in-game event offering special Artist Cards and a merchandise giveaway in collaboration with the SM Kwangya Store in Seoul.

Global pre-registration for SMiniz is currently open until Feb. 23 in regions such as South Korea, Japan, North America, Europe, and Taiwan. Players who pre-register will receive exclusive launch rewards, including a Group Draw Ticket.

SMiniz, which received positive feedback during its closed beta test, is part of a trend in the gaming industry where entertainment franchises are integrated into gameplay experiences. The game will feature customizable costumes, fan zone environments, and collectible photocard-style items.

While specific monetization details have not been disclosed, Kakao Games has indicated that SMiniz will follow a live-service model. The company, headquartered in Seongnam, has a diverse portfolio of mobile and PC titles, with SMiniz set to join the ranks of popular games like Odin: Valhalla Rising, Uma Musume Pretty Derby, Eversoul, and Guardian Tales.
