New Yorkers are invited to immerse themselves in a unique cultural experience at the Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY), where the summer program “It’s Time for K-Culture 2026: Escape the Summer, Dive into Korea” is in full swing. Running until August 22, this initiative allows visitors to engage with popular Korean video games while savoring traditional snacks typically enjoyed in Korean PC bang (internet cafes).
The K-PC Bang space features 12 computers and six mobile devices, providing ample opportunity for participants to explore a variety of games. From well-known titles like Crossfire to niche offerings such as Seoul Station, there is something for every gaming enthusiast. Complementing the gaming experience, a food zone sponsored by Nongshim serves up beloved PC bang treats, including instant noodles, allowing visitors to indulge in a taste of Korea.
Event Highlights
The event’s launch attracted over 200 officials from diverse sectors, including gaming, tourism, food, and beauty. Notable attendees included city officials from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and the NYC Economic Development Corporation. The collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Creative Content Agency (KCCA) New York Business Center, and KCCNY underscores the event’s significance in promoting Korean culture.
Among the attendees were representatives from local educational institutions, such as New York University’s Game Center, who gathered to discuss potential collaborative ventures. Lee Yang-hwan, head of KCCA’s New York Business Center, expressed optimism about the initiative, stating, “We hope this collaboration project helps domestic game companies to launch their businesses in North America and create future opportunities in New York.”
This summer program not only serves as a platform for entertainment but also fosters connections between Korean gaming companies and the North American market, paving the way for future growth and collaboration in the industry.
