Tempest Rising’s elusive third faction will get its own singleplayer campaign as a paid expansion, and you can play the demo right now

Expansion Announcement for Tempest Rising

Last year, the gaming community welcomed the release of Tempest Rising, a worthy successor to the iconic Command & Conquer series. This title introduced players to a dystopian future Earth, where three factions vie for dominance. While the Global Defense Force (GDF) and the Tempest Dynasty were playable, complete with their own single-player campaigns, the enigmatic Veti faction remained under the control of AI, leaving fans eager for more.

Developer Slipgate Ironworks has long hinted at the potential for the Veti to join the ranks of playable factions. After extensive testing of their multiplayer capabilities, the long-awaited announcement has finally arrived: the Veti will indeed receive their own campaign, albeit through a paid expansion.

Titled The Veti’s Wrath, this expansion will introduce players to 11 new campaign missions, matching the scale of the existing campaigns for the GDF and Tempest Dynasty. While specific details about the campaign remain scarce, Slipgate has indicated that the initial missions will serve as a tutorial, mirroring the structure of the base game’s campaigns.

Distinct from their counterparts, the Veti are an ancient race that has slumbered beneath the Earth’s surface for centuries, drawing inspiration from Ancient Egyptian aesthetics. This unique design extends to their gameplay mechanics, which emphasize themes of conversion and sacrifice. Players will have the ability to resurrect fallen enemy soldiers as “enlightened” units, which can then be utilized as a resource to enhance structures and provide various advantages.

Although the full release of The Veti’s Wrath is slated for later this year, eager players can get a taste of the expansion now through the Tempest Rising demo. This demo features the first two missions of the Veti campaign, alongside introductory missions for both the GDF and Tempest Dynasty.

It is important to note that while the Veti will require a purchase for single-player gameplay, they will be available as a multiplayer faction at no additional cost in the base game. Currently, Tempest Rising is receiving positive reviews for its engaging take on the classic RTS formula, and it is available at a 30% discount this weekend, retailing for (£21). This promotional offer ends tomorrow, providing a timely opportunity for new players to dive into this compelling title.
