Arm Unveils New C2 CPUs and Mali GPUs for Future Android Chips
Arm has recently introduced its latest C2-Ultra and C2-Pro CPU cores, promising a 15% increase in single-thread performance and 12% faster app launches. These new CPU designs also feature local AI integration, eliminating the need for a separate NPU or TPU.
- Up to 1.7x performance improvement across the latest AI models
- Up to 15 percent higher single-thread performance
- 15 percent faster web browsing
- 12 percent faster application launch
- 12 percent higher multi-thread performance at the cluster level
However, the highlight of Arm’s announcement is the new Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU, which boasts “desktop-class” performance with AI-native graphics. This GPU integrates neural acceleration directly into the graphics pipeline, offering developers the ability to create richer visual experiences within the mobile power constraints.
The Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU delivers a 14% performance boost and supports Unreal Engine 5 “MegaLights,” along with the capability to generate intermediate frames for smoother gameplay and upscale low-resolution games.
While these advancements may eventually extend to other devices, they will initially debut in Xiaomi’s 18 Fold phone featuring the XRing O3 chip. It may take some time for games to fully leverage the potential of this new hardware.
