Gemini for Android Auto is just giving up on answers for some drivers

The introduction of Gemini for Android Auto has generated considerable excitement, heralding a new era for AI assistance in vehicles. However, the reality of its performance has been marred by a series of challenges that users have encountered since its launch. The promise of enhanced capabilities over its predecessor, Assistant, has not yet been fully realized, leaving many to question its utility in everyday driving scenarios.

Reports from users indicate that the experience with Gemini has been far from seamless. For months, individuals have voiced concerns regarding various commands that fail to execute as intended, alongside overlooked functionalities that hinder the overall user experience. A particularly frustrating issue has emerged recently: Gemini appears to process commands but then inexplicably ceases to provide answers, leaving drivers in a state of limbo.

A Reddit user recently shared a video illustrating this perplexing behavior, prompting a wave of responses from others who have faced similar frustrations. The phenomenon does not seem to correlate with signal strength or the complexity of the questions posed. Instead, Gemini simply pauses, seemingly lost in thought, before ultimately giving up on delivering a response.

This issue has been reported across multiple device brands, including Google’s Pixel, Samsung, and Motorola, with users like myself experiencing it on the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Despite the growing chorus of complaints, Google has yet to acknowledge the problem, leaving many users in a state of uncertainty.
