AKDAN Malware Hunters blocks new malware that are difficult to detect with existing Antivirus with ‘AKDAN HALL’

AKDAN Malware Hunters has introduced a groundbreaking security solution, the AKDAN HALL PED, designed to identify and neutralize unknown document-based malware in a mere 0.27 seconds, effectively preventing execution before any damage can occur. This innovative approach diverges from traditional antivirus software, which typically relies on pre-existing lists of known threats. Instead, the Pre-Execution Detection (PED) technology employs a unique virtual “hypnosis” environment to predict and analyze potentially malicious behavior, boasting an impressive 99% success rate against emerging threats.

Shifting Cybersecurity Paradigms

As cyberattacks evolve, the methods employed by malicious actors have become increasingly sophisticated. Recent statistics reveal that a staggering 91% of cyberattacks initiate through email, with many utilizing document-based malware to infiltrate user systems. Traditional antivirus solutions, however, are often ill-equipped to handle these new threats, as it can take over 200 days for new malware to be recognized and added to their databases. This lag creates significant vulnerabilities, prompting experts to call for more proactive and responsive cybersecurity measures.

At the helm of AKDAN Malware Hunters is CEO Sean Jeon, a former expert from AhnLab, who has dedicated over 15 years to the cybersecurity field. Jeon’s frustration with the slow pace of traditional defenses inspired him to create a new paradigm for malware analysis. “Malware evolves weekly, yet defensive technologies have been perpetually reactive,” he explains. “We needed to change the game and develop a solution that could keep pace with these rapid advancements.”

Understanding the Technology

Jeon likens traditional antivirus software to a checkpoint guard relying on “wanted posters” to identify threats. “If a new malware appears in disguise, it will inevitably slip through the cracks,” he states. In contrast, AKDAN’s technology focuses on behavioral analysis rather than signature recognition. By simulating a crime scene in a virtual environment, the system can detect suspicious behaviors before execution, allowing for the prevention of unknown threats.

The AKDAN HALL product line, named to reflect its mission of establishing a monitoring office within users’ PCs, leverages the PED technology to conduct rapid analyses. This proactive approach enables the system to suspend execution and inspect files, thus averting potential damage. Recognized as an Excellent Information Security Technology by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), AKDAN HALL is positioned as a leader in the cybersecurity landscape.

Product Offerings and Market Expansion

AKDAN Malware Hunters caters to both individual users and organizations. For personal and small business use, a cloud-based agent is readily available. For more sensitive environments, such as hospitals and public institutions, the company offers the AKDAN HALL Mini, a compact physical server that can be easily connected to a router to provide robust file analysis and protection for networks of up to 100 users. This solution is designed to be user-friendly and cost-effective compared to traditional security equipment.

Importantly, AKDAN HALL is designed to complement existing antivirus solutions rather than compete with them. “Our system cooperates with traditional antivirus programs, creating a dual security framework,” Jeon explains. This collaboration allows for comprehensive protection, with AKDAN HALL inspecting new malware that may be overlooked by conventional software, all while maintaining minimal impact on system performance.

Support and Future Aspirations

The Initial Startup Package program from the Seoul National University of Science and Technology has played a pivotal role in bringing the AKDAN HALL Mini from concept to prototype. Jeon credits the program with providing essential mentorship and financial support, as well as expanding their marketing and investor relations network.

Looking ahead, AKDAN Malware Hunters aims to penetrate the Japanese market, having already localized their product for Japanese consumers. Plans for establishing local partnerships are underway following their participation in a recent exhibition. Ultimately, Jeon envisions a future where AKDAN’s technology enhances the capabilities of other security vendors, fostering a collaborative environment that elevates the standards of cybersecurity on a global scale.
