Japanese publishing powerhouse Capcom has unveiled impressive financial results for the quarter ending June 30th, reporting net sales of ¥45.5 billion (2.2 million). This remarkable figure represents a 53.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year, largely fueled by the success of its Digital Contents segment, primarily its gaming portfolio.
Key Titles Driving Growth
Among the standout performers, Capcom highlighted several blockbuster titles that have significantly contributed to this growth. Notably, Devil May Cry 5 has emerged as a major success story, with total sales reaching an impressive 10.5 million units. The recent surge in sales can be attributed to the popularity of the Netflix anime adaptation based on the franchise, which has undoubtedly rekindled interest among fans. In the last quarter alone, 1.7 million units of Devil May Cry 5 were sold.
Other titles also made noteworthy contributions to Capcom’s stellar performance. Resident Evil Village has achieved sales of 12.2 million units, while the Resident Evil 4 Remake has reached 10.6 million units. Additionally, the launch of Street Fighter 6 has proven successful, with sales hitting five million copies, bolstered by its recent debut on the Nintendo Switch 2.
In total, Capcom reported the sale of 14.16 million units during the quarter, marking a 48 percent increase from last year’s figures of 9.53 million copies. This surge in sales has translated into a significant boost in profitability, with operating profit soaring by an impressive 90.8 percent to reach ¥24.6 billion (3.4 million) for the same period.
