Remedy Entertainment has reached a significant milestone with its latest title, Control Resonant, which has now surpassed one million copies sold. This achievement positions the game as the fastest-selling in the company’s 31-year history, overtaking the previous record held by Alan Wake 2.

While three weeks to reach this milestone may not seem rapid compared to other recent titles—such as Blood of Dawnwalker, which achieved the same feat in just three days, or Subnautica 2, which did so in a mere 12 hours—it still marks a notable success for Remedy. Previous hits like Baldur’s Gate 3 took two months to reach a million copies sold, illustrating the competitive landscape in which Remedy operates.
However, the company faces a more pressing challenge: profitability. Alan Wake 2, for instance, took over a year and two million copies sold before it began generating profit for Remedy. Addressing this financial concern has been a priority for Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who assumed the role of CEO in February. Henri Österlund, Remedy’s chairman, noted that Gaudechon’s leadership is aimed at steering the company toward a phase of profitable growth.
Gaudechon has expressed optimism regarding Control Resonant’s performance, referring to the million-sold mark as “a very strong start.” He emphasized the game’s unique qualities, stating, “The game is unmistakably Remedy, with the bold ideas and distinctive style our players have come to expect from us.” He extended gratitude to both the players and the development team for their contributions to the game’s success.
“We have always believed Control deserved an even bigger audience, and this launch shows what’s possible,” Gaudechon remarked. He highlighted the game’s ability to resonate with long-time fans while attracting a significant number of new players, thereby enhancing its long-term potential. With both Control and Alan Wake now established franchises, Remedy aims to build upon their unique attributes and expand their reach further.
As the company prepares for its Q3 business review on November 3, stakeholders will be keen to understand the financial implications of Control Resonant’s success and how it aligns with Remedy’s broader growth strategy.
