Cyberpunk 2077’s surprise new update lets Keanu ride shotgun through the streets of Night City and makes some PC-specific improvements—and it’s out now

CD Projekt has unveiled the details of the unexpected Cyberpunk 2077 2.2 update, which is now available for players to explore. This update introduces an array of exciting features, particularly for vehicle enthusiasts and photography aficionados within the game.

While the much-anticipated New Game+ mode is not part of this update, car collectors will find joy in the newly accessible color-changing CrystalCoat system. Initially exclusive to Rayfield vehicles, players can now customize their Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra, and Villefort machines with this vibrant feature. Additionally, the new TwinTone system allows players to scan vehicles using Kiroshi optics, save their color schemes for a nominal fee, and apply these designs to other vehicles via the CrystalCoat menu.

Photo Mode Enhancements

The update also brings significant improvements to the photo mode, enabling players to capture their favorite moments in Night City with greater creativity:

  • Drone Camera: Now functions as a free camera rather than an orbital one centered around V.
  • Increased Camera Range: Allows for more expansive shots.
  • Full Collision (ON/OFF): Players can choose whether the camera respects in-game object collisions.
  • Lock Camera (ON/OFF): Prevents misclicking and maintains the desired frame.
  • Precise Camera (ON/OFF): Slows down camera movement for easier aiming.
  • Aspect Ratio: Custom-resolution screenshots are available on PC, while consoles remain at the standard 16:9 format.
  • Characters Tab: Players can spawn up to three NPCs from a selection of over 20 characters, adjusting their expressions, poses, and positions.
  • Lighting Tab: Introduces adjustable light sources for enhanced photo composition.
  • Depth of Field Fix: Resolves ghosting issues previously encountered.
  • Effect Intensity Slider: Offers more control over visual effects.

In addition to these features, the update introduces new character customization options, including a “Plain-to-Punk” slide in the randomizer, granting players greater control over their character’s appearance.

CD Projekt has also hinted at the addition of more secrets to uncover in Night City, inviting players to delve into the game to discover these hidden gems. Bug fixes and various tweaks are also part of this update, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience.
