In a surprising move last month, Microsoft made headlines by reducing the price of its media subscription service, a notable shift from the controversial price hike for Game Pass Ultimate that was announced for 2025. While the new plan, which excludes Call of Duty, still carries a higher price tag than before, the company aims to win back former subscribers with an enticing lineup of Game Pass additions for May. Among these is the highly anticipated release of Forza Horizon 6, which marks a significant milestone for Microsoft’s first-party offerings.
Exciting Releases Ahead
This latest installment of the beloved open-world racing series takes players to Japan, featuring an impressive collection of over 550 real-world cars to navigate through the vibrant streets of Tokyo. Engadget’s Kris Holt recently had the opportunity to experience the game’s prologue and expressed admiration for Playground Games’ stunning virtual representation of Japan, igniting a desire to explore the actual destination.
Forza Horizon 6 is set to debut on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on May 19. While it will also be available on PS5 in the future, the release date for that version remains unannounced.
Before the arrival of Forza Horizon 6, players can look forward to several other noteworthy titles. On May 7, Annapurna Interactive’s visually striking narrative adventure, Mixtape, will be available on Game Pass Ultimate for both console and PC. This title has garnered attention for its nostalgic appeal, particularly for those who grew up in the ’90s.
Following closely, on May 14, the long-awaited sequel, Subnautica 2, will make its debut. Although it will initially be in Early Access, its status as the most wishlisted game on Steam underscores its significance for Game Pass this month.
