One of the standout releases of the year has been Hazelight’s Split Fiction, which has captivated audiences with its dynamic gameplay and unexpected twists. Fraser Brown from PC Gamer expressed his astonishment at the game’s ability to deliver such a rich experience in a compact 15-hour journey, stating, “it’s hard to imagine another game cramming so many surprises and script-flips into a single romp.” This remarkable title continues the studio’s tradition of crafting engaging co-op adventures, following in the footsteps of their previous hits, A Way Out and It Takes Two.
Impressive Sales Milestone
Upon its release, Split Fiction achieved an impressive milestone, selling over a million copies within just two days. The developer’s official account expressed their gratitude, stating, “So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing… Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made…”
Future Endeavors
In an intriguing development, Split Fiction is also being considered for a film adaptation in collaboration with Story Kitchen. However, Hazelight’s co-founder, Josef Fares, remains skeptical about the project’s progress, quipping, “I’ll believe it when I see it. There’s a lot of talks, but nothing happens.” As for the studio’s direction moving forward, it appears they will continue to focus on creating original co-op experiences. Fares has made it clear that despite any external pressures, the team has no intention of venturing into the realm of live service games, stating emphatically, “Never.”
