Indie dev Studio Thunderhorse closes its doors

In a heartfelt announcement on Twitter, indie developer Studio Thunderhorse has revealed its decision to close its doors, citing a series of challenges and development hurdles that have ultimately led to this difficult conclusion.

Reflecting on a Journey

Founded in 2015 by Simon Filip, Studio Thunderhorse embarked on its creative journey with the release of two mobile titles: Samurai Blitz and Raccoon Rascals. The studio made a significant leap into the PC gaming realm with its 2021 title, Flynn: Son of Crimson, which was successfully funded through Kickstarter and published by Humble Games. While the closure of Thunderhorse has raised questions, there is currently no indication that Humble Games’ status is directly linked to this development.

In their poignant statement, the team expressed deep gratitude for the community’s support over the years. “After more than a decade of developing games and being part of this incredible community, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to close Studio Thunderhorse,” they shared. “It’s been an amazing journey full of passion, creativity, and most of all, the chance to connect with all of you, which makes this decision all the more difficult.”

The developers acknowledged the numerous challenges faced in recent months, stating, “Despite our best efforts, we’ve encountered a number of challenges and development hurdles that have made it clear that stepping back is the right choice for the long-term health of the team and the studio.”

As they bid farewell, the team emphasized their appreciation for the memories created with their supporters, saying, “We are endlessly grateful for the support, love, and memories you’ve shared with us. Thank you for being part of our story; it’s one we’ll cherish forever.”
