Inspired by classic tabletop RPGs, Solasta 2 finally has a launch date, and an awfully familiar cast

If you’ve been following my recent musings, you’ll know that I’m deeply immersed in my #D&Dera. Inspired by Brian Murphy’s Not Another D&D Podcast, the latest season of Critical Role, and an ample supply of coffee, I often find myself pondering the line between my poetic Aasimar bard and my true self. Having conquered Baldur’s Gate 3 earlier this year, my appetite for another adventure in the Forgotten Realms has only intensified. While Troika’s remaster of Temple of Elemental Evil has certainly caught my attention (I proudly consider myself a Bloodlines savant), it’s Solasta 2 that has truly captured my imagination, especially now that it has a confirmed release date.

Exploring Neokos

The eagerly anticipated sequel to 2021’s Crown of the Magister, Solasta 2 invites players to explore the enigmatic continent of Neokos—a vast fantasy landscape that promises to dazzle. Yet, beneath its enchanting surface lies a brewing corruption, heralded by a new and sinister force that bears a striking resemblance to the voice of Amelia Tyler.

Players will step into the shoes of the Colwall siblings, a quartet of adopted misfits, each endowed with their own distinctive abilities. The game unfolds in a world that pays homage to both tabletop and turn-based RPGs, where every decision carries weight and destiny is dictated by the roll of the dice. Caution is advised, dear adventurer.

A Conversation with Devora Wilde

In anticipation of The Game Awards showcase, I had the pleasure of speaking with actress Devora Wilde, known for her roles as Lae’zel in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clea in Expedition 33. In Solasta 2, she takes on the role of Deorcas, a warrior navigating her identity in a bizarre and captivating world. Joining her are fellow Clair Obscur alumni Ben Starr and the exceptionally talented Ellen Thomas, recognizable as Ambessa Medarda from League of Legends’ Arcane.

Wilde has also been embracing her own D&D journey, participating in various live-action roleplays, with MagicCon 2025 being a standout experience. I inquired whether her newfound passion for dice-rolling influenced her decision to accept this role. “I am a bit of a tabletop shenanigans person,” she chuckled. “But I came in not knowing [anything].”

“It took me quite a long time to realize how tied into D&D Baldur’s Gate 3 was. D&D was something I’d heard of, but I didn’t really connect the dots. Once I started playing it for myself, I realized, ‘Oh! Now I see what D&D is,’ and doing the live shows really got me there. It’s taken me a bit of time, but I’m there.”

“With Solasta 2, D&D feels more familiar to me, so it does feel like I’m engaging in something of the same nature,” she added. “But also the storyline and the family dynamic—it’s so juicy. I’m just rubbing my hands together because it has a great story, great characters, and great interpersonal relationships. I feel very lucky to have been asked to do it!”

Reuniting with Friends

Solasta 2 brings together familiar faces from previous projects, including the connection with Tyler from Baldur’s Gate and Starr from Expedition 33. I asked Wilde how it feels to collaborate with actors who have become friends over the years. “It’s amazing,” she replied, her smile evident through the screen. “We have this group of colleagues who are truly friends. Over the past two years, we’ve grown together, and now getting to work on these incredible projects is just fantastic. The characters are different, and so the dynamics will naturally shift, making the experience with Solasta 2 distinct from that of Baldur’s Gate 3 or Expedition 33.”

“It’s really incredible to create art with your friends and be part of these amazing stories. I feel very fortunate.”

As announced during The Game Awards, Solasta 2 is set to launch in early access on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Players can wishlist the game now and even sample the demo if, like me, they are brimming with excitement.
