In the latest snapshot release, players are invited to immerse themselves in a delightful array of new features that promise to enhance the gaming experience. Among the highlights are the charming baby versions of aquatic mobs, including the axolotl, dolphin, turtle, squid, and glow squid. These adorable additions not only bring a fresh visual appeal but also introduce a unique mechanic: players can now keep their favorite baby mobs in a perpetual state of youth by feeding them a golden dandelion.

Golden Dandelion

  • The Golden Dandelion is a novel flower that halts the aging process of baby mobs when interacted with.
    • Holding a Golden Dandelion while interacting with a baby mob will prevent it from aging.
    • If you wish to allow a previously stunted baby mob to grow, simply interact with it again while holding a Golden Dandelion.
    • This flower cannot be used on hostile baby mobs or villagers.
  • Crafting the Golden Dandelion requires a standard dandelion and gold nuggets.

Baby Mobs

  • Models and textures for several baby mobs have been updated:
    • Dolphin
    • Squid
      • The bounding box for baby squids has been expanded to accommodate the new model.
    • Glow Squid
      • Similar adjustments have been made to the bounding box of baby glow squids.
    • Turtle
    • Axolotl
      • The bounding box for baby axolotls has also been increased to fit the new design.

UI Enhancements

Game Rules

  • The search functionality has been improved to include gamerules based on description and category, in addition to namespaced ID and name.

Technical Changes

  • The Data Pack version has been updated to 98.
  • The Resource Pack version is now at 79.
  • Tags resolved from <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>minecraft:nbt text components are now displayed in a more readable format.

Data Pack Version 98

  • Some custom recipe field syntax has been modified.
  • The <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>gameplay/turtleegghatchchance environment attribute now defaults to a value of <span class="MCEffect_TextHighlightA”>0.002.

Added <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>minecraft:dye

  • This component represents various colors of dye and can be utilized in different contexts where specific dye items were previously required.
    • Note: The presence of this component does not automatically enable functionality; items must be explicitly allowed for specific uses.
  • Available colors include: <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>white, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>orange, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>magenta, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>lightblue, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>yellow, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>lime, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>pink, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>gray, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>lightgray, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>cyan, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>purple, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>blue, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>brown, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>green, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>red, <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>black.

  • This function is no longer limited to items within the <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>#dyeable tag.

Recipes

  • The <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>minecraft:craftingspecialmapcloning recipe type has been removed, with its functionality integrated into <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>minecraft:crafting_transmute.
  • New <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>show_notification fields have been added to various recipe types, ensuring a consistent user experience across crafting interactions.
  • Several stonecutter recipes have been renamed for clarity, aligning with their respective advancements.

Resource Pack Version 79

  • Glow particles emitted by various entities are now rendered as opaque, enhancing visual consistency.
  • The <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>demobackground.png has been replaced with <span class="MCEffect_TextHighlightA”>popup/background.png.

Block Sprites

  • A new block texture for the <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>golden_dandelion.png has been introduced.

Sounds

  • New sound events for baby chickens and the Golden Dandelion have been added, enriching the auditory landscape of the game.

Fixed Bugs in 26.1 Snapshot 5

  • Several bugs have been addressed, including issues with mob spawning, crafting notifications, and visual inconsistencies.

Get the Snapshot

Snapshots are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install, players can access the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the “Installations” tab. It is advisable to back up worlds before testing these versions, as they may cause corruption.
