New System Requirements for Minecraft

In a significant update, Microsoft has announced a shift in the system requirements for Minecraft, marking the first change in 17 years. This announcement, made on the 28th via the company’s official blog, underscores a commitment to enhancing the gaming experience for users as future updates roll out.

The revised requirements reflect a growing need for modern hardware. Notably, players will now need CPUs and GPUs that support the ‘Vulkan 1.3’ graphics API. Additionally, there is a marked increase in RAM requirements: the recommended capacity has surged from 4GB to 16GB, aligning with the standards set by contemporary PC games.

The new specifications delineate a clear path for players:

  • Recommended Specifications: 16GB of RAM and 6GB of VRAM
  • Minimum Specifications: 8GB of RAM (12GB if utilizing integrated graphics) and 2GB of VRAM

Mojang Studios, the creative force behind Minecraft, reassured players regarding the transition. They emphasized that these adjustments are designed to offer more realistic guidelines for those wishing to enjoy the game at high settings in Full HD resolution. Furthermore, they alleviated concerns from existing users about the sudden spike in requirements, clarifying that the game’s performance demands will not drastically intensify overnight.
