In a notable development within the gaming industry, a new venture has emerged, bringing together a wealth of experience from established studios. Former employees from renowned companies such as Ready at Dawn, Ubisoft, and Midgar Studio have united to form Atlantis Studio.
Founders and Vision
The studio is spearheaded by Ru Weerasuriya, the founder of Ready at Dawn, alongside writer Nico Augusto. Weerasuriya, who established Ready at Dawn in 2003 after a significant tenure at Blizzard, has a rich history in game development. His journey continued when Meta acquired Ready at Dawn, where he served as studio head and director of the metaverse until his departure in March 2025.
“We are thrilled to announce the creation of Atlantis Studio in the beautiful South of France region,” Weerasuriya expressed. “Our vision is to foster a creative and collaborative environment where experienced talent can come together to develop games driven by our common passions.”
Augusto echoed this sentiment, stating, “The core team at Atlantis Studio is composed of exceptional and talented individuals. Together, we are looking forward to sharing with everyone the world we are crafting.”
Atlantis Studio is set to focus on developing titles for both PC and console platforms, utilizing the cutting-edge capabilities of Unreal Engine 5. This strategic choice positions the studio to create visually stunning and immersive gaming experiences.
