Android Users Experiencing Frustrating Roblox Crashes

Android users are facing unexpected crashes while playing Roblox, with a puzzling error message causing confusion among players.

A Reddit user with a Samsung S24 Ultra reported receiving a pop-up message stating “REF: xxxx Security Threat Detected” before the app crashed just minutes into gameplay. What’s baffling is that the user hadn’t made any changes to their device prior to the issue.

The problem seems to be affecting a wide range of Android brands and models, including Samsung devices like the S24 Ultra, S23 Ultra, and Galaxy A52, as well as Lenovo tablets, Xiaomi phones, Huawei devices, Amazon Fire tablets, and Google Pixel phones.

Reports indicate that the error occurs after updating Roblox, causing the game to shut down shortly after launch. This suggests that the issue may have started around November 22-24, possibly linked to a recent app update.

Despite trying various troubleshooting methods such as clearing cache, reinstalling the app, and disabling optimizations, users have been unable to resolve the issue. Some have even resorted to downgrading to an older Roblox version from November 4 to prevent crashes.

Speculation among players suggests that Roblox’s Hyperion anti-cheat system could be mistakenly flagging legitimate devices as security threats, leading to the crashes. While the company has not publicly addressed the issue, users are encouraged to try installing the older APK file as a temporary workaround.

It remains to be seen how long it will take for a permanent fix to be implemented by Roblox. In the meantime, affected users are advised to explore alternative solutions to continue enjoying their gaming experience.
