Xbox Insiders Can Now Stream Xbox Console-Only Games On PC

Microsoft has unveiled an exciting enhancement to its “Stream your own game” feature, now enabling Xbox Insiders to stream their favorite Xbox games directly on PC. This expansion follows the initial rollout of the feature to TVs and browsers on supported devices last November, and to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles in April.

New Streaming Capabilities

Previously, users could only stream games from the Xbox Game Pass catalog. However, with this latest update, players can now stream any console game they own, broadening their gaming horizons. This feature is available exclusively to Xbox Insiders who are also members of Game Pass Ultimate, ensuring a premium experience for dedicated gamers.

The functionality can be accessed through the Xbox PC app in all 28 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming is operational. Notably, no installation is necessary; players simply need to launch the app and select from over 250 supported titles to start streaming immediately. This development opens the door for gamers to enjoy titles that were previously unavailable through the Xbox PC app.

Expanding the Game Library

While the current selection of supported games does not include older titles from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles, the library is steadily expanding. This initiative is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to enhance the Xbox PC app, which has seen various updates, including:

  • Game Bar Compact Mode
  • A consolidated home user interface
  • Revamped Game Bar and widgets
  • Microsoft Edge Game Assist

In conjunction with these updates, Microsoft continues to promote its Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, allowing gamers to purchase titles once and play them across multiple devices. This includes the upcoming Xbox ROG Ally Windows handhelds, set to launch this holiday season, which will support Xbox for PC games natively, alongside titles from other gaming platforms like Steam.
