Microsoft has unveiled a refreshing update for its PC Game Bar, enhancing the settings widget to provide players with more intuitive access to audio adjustments and screen brightness controls. This latest iteration not only streamlines these features in compact mode but also introduces a convenient toggle, allowing users to switch between compact and desktop modes effortlessly.
Enhanced Features for a Seamless Experience
The Xbox app update for PC further enriches the user experience by offering simplified options for accessing an on-screen keyboard, managing Bluetooth-connected devices, and activating airplane mode directly through the Game Bar’s settings widget. This enhancement follows the recent addition of Wi-Fi and battery status icons in compact mode, reflecting Microsoft’s commitment to making the Xbox app more user-friendly for handheld gaming.
In addition to these updates, the broader Xbox update has introduced Retro Classics to all Game Pass membership tiers. This nostalgic catalog features beloved titles such as Pitfall and Commando, alongside the iconic PlayStation game MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat.
Members of the Xbox Insider Program have also been treated to new customization options for their console home screens. Notably, users can now hide system apps from the “recently played” section and pin up to three games or apps for quick access in the horizontal bar.
Looking ahead, Microsoft has scheduled the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 for June 8 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM UK. Following this event, fans can anticipate a special presentation dedicated to The Outer Worlds 2.
